Courtesy Alsum Farms & Produce (UPDATED COVERAGE, 10:29 a.m., Oct. 11) Alsum Farms & Produce’s new microwaveable russets and sweet potatoes should be on retail shelves by mid-October.
The company also has redesigned its steamer bags.
Each Alsum Microwave Russets and Alsum Microwave Sweet Potatoes includes one pre-washed potato, according to a news release from the Friesland, Wis., company.
The microwaveable russet cooks in eight minutes, and the sweet potato cooks in seven minutes.
“With the start of school, families are busier than ever,” Heidi Randall, Alsum’s marketing manager, said in the release. “Our new microwaveable singlets give families a healthy option when they’re on the run.”
The new Fast & Fresh Steamers bags feature packaging with a photograph of company owner Larry Alsum on them. Randall said adding Alsum to the bags helps meet demand among consumers to know more about where their food comes from.
