An Australian packaging company is trumpeting placing in a United Kingdom packaging awards competition.
Amcor ReClose won first prize in the Nov. 13 London UK Packaging Awards contest in the consumer convenience category.
It also picked up a “highly commended” award in the flexible plastic pack of the year category, according to a news release.
Amcor Flexibles Europe & Americas, an Amcor division, is a large global flexible packaging supplier for a variety of industries including food and beverage, pharma, medical and industrial markets.
The company won the consumer convenience division award for packing beets in a punnet with lidding film, according to the release.
Consumer research showed a need for a resealable pack so G’s Fresh Ltd.’s M&S beetroot could avoid the messy decanting or pouring the beet’s liquid into another pack, according to the release.
As beetroots are notorious for staining, a strong and lasting seal was needed, according to the release.
G’s Fresh is a UK-based grower-shipper and marketer of vegetables.
Amcor Flexibles Europe & Americas operates 68 plants in 21 countries.
