Cross-border trade policy, food safety and marketing panels will highlight the 2013 America Trades Produce Conference & Expo, scheduled for March 6-8 in McAllen, Texas.
Staged in collaboration between the Texas International Produce Association and the Fresh Produce Association of the Americas, the third-annual event aims to bring together ranking government officials from the U.S. and Mexico to discuss initiatives and collaborative trade efforts, Nogales, Ariz.-based FPAA president Lance Jungmeyer said in a news release.
Scheduled sessions “A Shared Border, A Shared Future: Improving Regulatory and Market Access Cooperation” and “The Powers that Be” will look at how a second-term Obama administration and a new Pena Nieto administration will affect trade.
Other panel discussions will feature officials from U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant
Health Inspection Service, the Food and Drug Administration and Customs and Border Protection.
Also new this year is the addition of an expo focused on showcasing fresh in-season product from importers and domestic growers, Bret Erickson, president of Mission-based TIPA, said in the release.
