Andrew Scott, a produce industry veteran and president of the Southeast Produce Council, has joined an Atlanta wholesaler.
On July 21, Scott joined Nickey Gregory Co. LLC as director of marketing and business development.
Scott entered the produce industry in 1991 at the Atlanta operation of Eden Prairie, Minn.-based C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc., and has worked in the Southeast for a number of companies, including Atlanta wholesaler General Produce Inc., where he was sales and procurement manager.
He said the desire for less travel following a family medical issue prompted him to move from his most recent position as director of sales and marketing for Miami-based Coosemans Worldwide Inc., to the Atlanta wholesaler.
Scott said he likes working with and being around people, and will not be working from his home .
“I’m glad to be back on this side of the business where every day is different in this wholesale business of ours,” he said. “I plan to do some outside sales and work with some of the sales guys here on the sales desk. I like being in the middle of it.”
Scott notes Nickey Gregory’s growth and said the distributor has added many tractor-trailer trucks.
Started in 2000 by Nickey Gregory and his wife Cheryl Gregory, the company distributes to retailers, foodservice purveyors and wholesalers in the Southeast.
In 2013, Scott joined Hudsonville, Mich.-based Superior Sales Inc., as its first vice president of sales and marketing and in January, became director of sales and marketing for five Coosemans locations.
Scott’s term as head of the East Ellijay, Ga.-based SEPC ends in late September.
