AngrisaniEd Angrisani, a tomato sales veteran and partner with Taylor & Fulton Packing LLC, is no longer with the company.

In 2008, Angrisani, Jim Grainger and citrus and vegetable grower Brian Turner bought the packinghouse formerly owned by Taylor & Fulton Inc., Palmetto, Fla.

Angrisani, a 30-year tomato sales veteran who has sold tomatoes for the 58-year-old Taylor & Fulton since the early 1980s, worked his last day Aug. 29.

GraingerThe other partners declined to state what happened with Angrisani’s departure.

“Ownership management decided to go a different direction,” said Grainger, owner of Grainger Farms and a former co-owner of Tomatoes of Ruskin Inc. “It was time to make a change and we felt the time was now. It’s time for everyone to go a different direction in their lives. That’s all I am going to say and not comment beyond that.”

Angrisani also declined comment on his plans.

A self-employed salesman, Angrisani and former Taylor & Fulton owners Jay Taylor and John Taylor in 2005 took ownership control of Tomato Man, Immokalee, Fla., by purchasing the half owned by Bill O’Quinn.

Angrisani has also sold tomatoes for Taylor & Fulton’s North Florida Tomato Inc., Quincy, which he also co-owned, and Gulfstream Tomato Growers Ltd., Miami.

Succeeding Angrisani as head salesman is Robert Elliot, who has sold tomatoes for more than 30 years for Gargiulo Inc., Naples, Fla., and most recently, Ace Tomato Co. Inc., Manteca, Calif. Elliot is scheduled to begin his new position Sept. 19, Grainger said.

Taylor & Fulton founder Jack Taylor, who died in 1996, started the operation during the late 1940s and changed its name after he added partner Pete Fulton in 1953.

Ed was a mentor to me and I hope to be buying tomatoes from him in the near future but he certainly is due his personal time.

I have never had any bad experiences with Ed, which is more then I and half my associates can say about John and Jay Taylor. I hope Ed finds better partners next time.
