Community FoodBank of New Jersey and Island Harvest shared a donation of 46,200 apples as part of FirstFruits Marketing of Washington and The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co.’s campaign to “Take a Bite Out of Hunger.”
FirstFruits created the campaign three years ago as a retail partnership.
“This program is one of our favorites,” said Dennis Jackson, category manager of FirstFruits of Washington, in a news release. “We enjoy helping our retail partners like A&P make these donations and have received great feedback from the food banks which are always appreciative of receiving fresh and healthy produce.”
The program is great way to provide fresh produce to the food bank, said Eric Beelitz, A&P’s director of produce, in a news release.
“This program provides tangible help to those in need, and providing the donation in the area where we work and live helps support our community,” he said.
