Avocados from Mexico is conducting two consumer marketing campaigns this winter.

The first, dubbed Feliz Navidad, began in November and will run through the holidays, according to an Avocados from Mexico news release.

The highlight of the program is the use of celebrity spokesman Mario Lopez, co-host of “Extra TV” and “The X Factor.” In interviews on behalf of Avocados from Mexico, Lopez is highlighting both Mexican and American holiday traditions.

Also as part of the campaign, Avocados from Mexico has partnered with the Modelo beer company. Consumers who buy three Mexican avocados get a coupon for $3 off a 12-pack of a Modelo beer.

Or, if they buy three avocados from Mexico, they can save $2 instantly on any fresh pork purchase of $5 or more.

The campaign also will highlight a new recipe, the Avo-Chipotle Cemita Sandwich, made by chef Rick Bayless.

The second winter campaign from Avocados from Mexico targets fans of the Super Bowl and other winter sporting events.

Running from January through February, the campaign features a “Guacamole Bowl,” in which people share their best guacamole recipes on Pinterest or another social media channel where Avocados from Mexico has a presence.

Retail promotions include two coupon offers and a nationwide “Super Spread” sweepstakes.

Consumers who buy three avocados and a bottle of Cholula (five ounces or bigger) can get Mission tortillas or chips free (up to $2.99).

In the second offer, those who buy a 12-pack of any Heineken beer and two “Super Spread” brands (Avocados from Mexico, Mission Foods and Cholula) get a $5 mail-in rebate.

In addition, four "Super Spread" sweepstakes winners will receive a $5,000 grocery gift card.
