Enlarging its pineapple supplies, Ayco Farms Inc., has entered into venture with one of Costa Rica’s largest growers.
The venture allows the Pompano Beach, Fla.-based grower-importer-shipper to provide its customers a consistent program and Ayco foresees increasing potential with pineapples, according to a news release.
The grower previously supplied only to European customers, according to the release.
“Our pineapple program is based on year-round supply, contracts and promotional volume for retailers and the foodservice industry,” Avi Nir, Ayco’s president, said in the release. “Additionally, our pineapples have a guaranteed brix of no less than 13%.”
In 2013, Ayco established a logistics company allowing the grower-shipper-importer to diversify, according to the release.
Ayco markets small watermelons, asparagus, baby artichokes and other imports.
