Santa Maria, Calif.-based Azzule Systems has temporarily assigned Rebecca Burnworth as scheme manager for the PrimusGFS Food Safety Auditing Scheme. Burnworth is taking over for Kerry Bridges who accepted a newly created food safety position at Wal-Mart.

Azzule SystemsRebecca BurnworthBurnworth has been the technical manager for PrimusGFS since April. She has been involved with the transition and implementation of the newest version of the audit scheme after its benchmarking to the Global Food Safety Initiative 6th Edition Guidance Document, according to a news release.

In the new role, she will continue helping with the transition and will also help with ongoing development and expansion of the PrimusGFS auditing scheme.

PrimusGFS Standard is a voluntary scheme that sets requirements for certification in the agriculture crops sector. The scheme has been used in 15 countries.

“While we are saddened with the departure of Kerry Bridges from our team, we are very excited for her as she begins her role in a newly formed position at Wal-Mart dealing with food safety and supplier compliance,“ said Nadia Pasco, Azzule Systems CEO, in the release. “She brought a great deal of passion for food safety to her role with us, as director of the PrimusGFS scheme, and now she will take that same level of passion and drive for excellence to Wal-Mart.”

“They have a talented team player joining their food safety group, and we have a talented team player expanding her role within Azzule. Both teams benefit,” shared Charles Stoffers, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Azzule Systems. He echoed Nadia’s thoughts, commenting “Kerry helped guide us through our recent benchmarking effort and has done a tremendous job of supporting and developing PrimusGFS, its certification bodies and its stakeholders."
