A BC Hot House Foods Inc. grower has expanded tomato offerings.
Creekside Hot House added 10 acres in South Surrey, British Columbia, for the production of Pink Blushers, sweet cherry on-the-vine, gem medley, Tastinis, romas, beefsteaks, tomatoes-on-the-vine and other tomatoes, according to a news release from Langley, British Columbia-based BC Hot House.
Creekside’s owner, Ravi Cheema, has been a BC Hot House grower-partner for 13 years. Creekside’s lead grower, Melina Fillipoff, has been growing for BC Hot House for more than a decade.
The tomatoes from the new Creekside greenhouse will be sold under the company’s new Big Taste banner.
“It’s great to see young, enthusiastic people like Ravi and his specialty tomato grower Melina continue to expand our Big Taste product offering and be so passionate in what they produce,” Mike Reed, BC’s president, said in the release.
The Big Taste slogan is part of a rebranding celebrating BC Hot House’s 40th anniversary. The company also is updating labels, bags, boxes, clamshells and other materials.
Big Taste reflects the company’s commitment to finding better-tasting greenhouse vegetable varieties, Reed said.
The packaging changes are the first at BC Hot House in nearly a decade.
