A Mid-Atlantic wholesaler is pledging to donate funds through a partnership with a breast cancer research organization.
Jessup, Md.-based produce distributor G. Cefalu & Bro. Inc. and foodservice jobber Capital Seaboard are partnering with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
For every case of Romy-branded tomatoes Cefalu and Capital Seaboard sells, the companies plan to donate a portion of sales to the foundation.
The companies are pledging to contribute a minimum of $25,000, according to a news release.
The campaign is scheduled to end in fall 2013 and includes point-of-sale materials and merchandising assistance to retail customer participants.
“We at G. Cefalu and Capital Seaboard are so proud to have the privilege of partnering with such a wonderful charity,” Bernie Cefalu, sales director, said in the release. “Our family and friends are all too familiar with the severity of breast cancer, and we are dedicated to helping the Breast Cancer Research Foundation in their efforts to find a cure.”
The New York cancer research organization funds prevention efforts and research at medical centers throughout the world.
