A food safety material supplier is targeting fresh-cut processors with its latest product release, with a goal of complying with food safety regulations.

BirkoBirko, Henderson, Colo., has an spray system that automatically mixes and applies antimicrobial solutions to produce.

Distributed through Chad Equipment LLC, a Birko company, the spray system reduces and controls microbial contamination in produce processing, according to a news release.

The automatic mixing system supplies the trademarked Birkoside MP-2 or Veggiexide antimicrobials to the Chad Conveyorized Spray System and operating parameters including pressure, flow and temperature, according to the release.

Birkoside MP-2 fights listeria while Veggiexide is designed for direct application to produce during processing, according to the release.

“Using the Chad Antimicrobial Spray System is a proven way for produce processors to improve product quality and safety,” Dana Johnson, Birko’s produce specialist, said in the release.
