The campaign will now feature season-specific efforts highlighting the benefits of red potatoes, according to a news release from Grand Forks, N.D.-based Black Gold Farms.
The first seasonal campaign, which began on Jan. 20 and continues through March, focuses on healthy eating choices for the New Year.
The campaign began with 12 food bloggers sharing red potato recipes, a giveaway and a Twitter party where consumers shared tips for healthy living. The Twitter party generated nearly 5,000 posts and more than 6 million impressions.
Other seasonal campaigns planned for 2014 will focus on summer grilling, crockpot cooking ideas and holiday entertaining.
Each campaign will feature online consumer engagement, contests, on-pack messaging, ad slicks, retail point-of-sale materials and other information.
“We want to provide impactful promotions for retailers all year long, as well as create simple messages that resonate with consumers about red potatoes,” Leah Brakke, director of marketing for Black Gold Farms, said in the release. “Red potatoes are easy, versatile and delicious. There really isn’t a reason consumers shouldn’t use them year-round.”
