Black Gold Farms’ potato and seasoning pairing has earned a nomination for the Produce Marketing Association’s Marketing Impact Award. Their nomination was a result of positive feedback from both consumers and retailers.
Black Gold Farms, Grand Forks, N.D., acted on research indicating that consumers want new ideas on what to make with fresh potatoes, according to a news release. Black Gold released the product in June.
The grower-shipper worked with McCormick Produce Partners for the marketing strategy, combining fresh potatoes and a seasoning packet in a clamshell style package. The product comes in three flavors: Roasted Italian Herbs, Toasted Onion and Garlic, and Roasted Garlic and Rosemary.
“These potatoes couldn’t be easier with the simple rinse, cube, season and bake instructions with flavorful pairings that take the guesswork out of fresh potato prep,” said director of marketing, Leah Brakke, in a news release,
Black Gold took the marketing another step in a complimentary retail display to advertise the products in stores.
The winner of the Impact Award will be announced Oct. 18 at the PMA Fresh Summit Convention & Expo in New Orleans.
