Bland, who had been director of quality control and procurement, fills a position that has been vacant for about six months, Bland said.
David Beecher held the position for about 1 1/2 years before leaving Glennville, Ga.-based Bland Farms six months ago, Bland said. Before Beecher, Michael Hively held the position.
Bland, the son of company president Delbert Bland, joined Bland Farms in 2005. He said that keeping costs down will be one of his top priorities.
“I grew up in this business, and now I’ll try to take what I’ve learned from my predecessors and apply it,” he said.
Bland has overseen all aspects of the company’s operations since Beecher’s departure, making him a perfect fit for the job, Bryce Edmonson, Bland Farms’ chief executive officer, said in a news release.
“Troy has grown up in the business and has developed a deep understanding of all aspects of the company’s operations,” Edmonson said. “We welcome his promotion to director of operations and look forward to his continued contributions to the company.”
