The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced the Blueberry Promotion, Research and Information Order will continue, following a vote by highbush blueberry producers and importers.
The USDA Agricultural Marketing Service conducted the referendum July 5-26, according to a USDA news release.
The referendum required a majority of votes and a majority of blueberry volume represented to pass. Of eligible voters, 88% voted in favor, representing 98% of the volume of blueberries produced or imported.
The order allows the industry to jointly research promotions, markets and production.
