Regional operator Boston Fresh LLC plans to open fresh-cut processing and repacking operations.
The Boston-based wholesaler and distributor expects to begin operating in the Brockton, Mass., facility in July, according to a news release.
The fresh-cut processing operation brings additional stock-keeping units to the company’s full line of fruits and vegetables, which includes tomato repacking, according to the release.
“Our first priority is understanding our customers’ needs and building a program to support them,” Charlie Nano, general manager, said in the release. “But a close second is fulfilling our obligation to support that program with products and services that they can depend on day after day. Our team has put a lot of thought and planning into this expansion, and we look forward to building more great relationships with retailers and foodservice operators throughout the Northeast.”
The facility is designed to be Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point certified, audited through the Global Food Safety Initiative, and Produce Traceability Initiative compliant. Labels will conform to GS1 number and Global Trade Identification Numbers, according to the release.
Started in 2013 as a partnership including distributor Glendale, Wis.-based Maglio & Co., Boston Fresh is a produce wholesaler, processor, repacker, distributor and logistics provider serving seven northeastern states.
