PiazzaJoseph “Jay” Piazza Jr, 51, of the Boston-based Community-Suffolk Inc. died Jan. 21.

Piazza worked as warehouse manager alongside his brothers and cousin in the third-generation family wholesale operation.

The oldest child, Jay Piazza worked with Steven Piazza, president and treasurer, cousin David Piazza, vice president, and brothers Jackie Piazza and Tommy Piazza, who worked in sales.

“He worked since he was 14 years old,” Steven Piazza said. “He worked his way up from working on the docks and unloading freight cars, and was able to fill in any positions we needed him in like in assisting in sales. He had a great attitude of managing the warehouse and was great with everyone from the buyers to the truck drivers.”

Survivors include children Briana Piazza, Rockport, Mass., and Joseph III of Virginia, former wife Marlene (English), longtime companion Karen Cleary of Revere, Mass., and his brothers.

Funeral services were Jan. 27. In lieu of flowers, family members request contributions in Piazza’s name to the St. Jude Hospital for Children, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105-1905.
