C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc., Eden Prairie, Minn., has been helping feed its local needy lately in two ways.
First, it established a Community Giving Garden in spring 2011, inspired by the company’s Summer of Wellness employee campaign, according to company news release.
More than 100 employees from C.H. Robinson’s Eden Prairie offices are planting, watering, weeding and harvesting from the garden. They donate all the produce to People Reaching Out to Other People, which serves residents of Eden Prairie and Chanhassen, Minn.
The agency serves 3,700 people, nearly half of whom are children.
Also, C.H. Robinson donated a plot of land to Hands for Harvest, a nonprofit organization cofounded by C.H. Robinson employee Travis Dahlke.
For the past two years, Hands for Harvest grew and donated 20,000 pounds of potatoes, carrots and onions to local food pantries and food banks. Hands for Harvest will supply People Reaching Out to Other People with potatoes.
