C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc., has opened a new Hamburg, Germany, office and promoted three managers.

Oliver Schmidt, who joined the Eden Prairie, Minn.-based C.H. Robinson in April, manages the road transportation office in Hamburg, which also handles new customer sales, according to a news release.

Michel Datz and Jochen Mueller have joined as branch managers for offices in Basel, Switzerland, and Düsseldorf, Germany, respectively.

Starting in the industry in 1994, Schmidt possesses road transport, air, ocean, project cargo and supply chain consulting experience through working for German logistics companies, according to the release.

Datz, who started with C.H. Robinson in June as branch manager of the Switzerland office, worked 30 years in global forwarding.

Mueller, who joined the company’s Düsseldorf office as branch manager in May, entered the industry in 2001 and includes experience in sales, sales management and branch management positions at TNT, Fercam Transporte and Gruber Logistics.

C.H. Robinson, which recently opened offices in Innsbruck, Austria, Rotterdam, The Netherlands, and in Istanbul, Turkey, works from more than 50 European operations employing with more than 1,000 workers.

“The addition of Oliver, Michel, and Jochen, along with the Hamburg office opening has solidified our commitment to the European region,” Bryan Foe, C.H. Robinson Europe’s president, said in the release.
