The 26th annual C&S Wholesale Grocers Inc. charity golf outing raised $1.1 million and added a sixth charity for its donations.

The event, called Tee Up For Kids, was Aug. 2 and 3 at four courses, three in Vermont and one in Massachusetts. It began in 1985, according to a C&S news release.

The largest recipient of the funds was the pediatric oncology unit at Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth, Lebanon, N.H., which received $330,000. A spokeswoman there confirmed the amount.

Feeding America, Chicago, received $275,000 for its national Backpack Program for feeding children.

Share Our Strength, Washington, received $264,000 for its No Kid Hungry campaign, the 2011 Conference of Leaders and the Hunger in America’s Schools report.

The Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, received $132,000 for pediatric cancer research.

The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, Ashford, Conn., received $77,000 for children with cancer.

Finally, the newest recipient, Jennifer’s Gift of Hope, Maynard, Mass., which helps families fighting long-term illness, received $22,000.

C&S Charities Inc., a New Hampshire not-for-profit under C&S Wholesale Grocers Inc., Keene, N.H., wrote the checks to the six charities.

According to Forbes magazine, C&S Wholesale is the 12th-largest privately held company in the U.S., with nearly $20 billion in revenue in 2007.
