“Building relationships with food bloggers and with innovative produce companies like Stemilt helps us extend our reach to consumers through social media,” Cindy Jewell, marketing director California Giant Berry Farms, Watsonville, Calif., said in a news release.
The two companies joined forces Sept. 19 to sponsor a fresh fruit cocktail party exclusively for the food bloggers, according the release.
Two well-known Seattle chefs — Tom Douglas, restaurateur and two-time James Beard award winner, and Jody Hall, owner of the Cupcake Royale — took turns encouraging the bloggers to keep it fresh and socially responsible.
Fruit-infused waters and fresh fruit sweet treats made with California Giant berries and Stemilt apples kept the fresh theme going throughout the event.
Through the coming weeks the two fruit companies plan to keep the bloggers’ attention via Twitter with #FreshBloggers updates about a contest that will pay the way for two food bloggers to attend a conference in 2014.
“The food blogging community is passionate about fresh fruit and farming, and we wanted to celebrate that through a unique event and contest,” Brianna Shales, Stemilt communications manager said in the release.
During the #FreshBloggers event, the bloggers on Twitter reached a total of 211,166 people with 775,535 total impressions, Shales said.
