California Giant Berry Farms took a day away from the office to give back to the community as the staff took to the kitchen and barbecue pit to prepare skirt steak lunches for the community.

This year marks the ninth annual Skirt Steak Fundraiser in Watsonville, Calif.

More than 800 lunches were prepared by the staff and served to the members of the community, benefiting local charities, according to a news release.

Jacob’s Heart Foundation, Children’s Hospice, CASA of Santa Cruz County, Hospice of Santa Cruz and Women’s Crisis Support were on hand at the event to share information and stories pertaining to their service to the community and to thank everyone for picking up lunch for their support.

“It was great to see our employees working together to support so many worthy organizations, and  bring so many members of our community together for a good cause”, Bill Moncovich, president of California Giant, said in the release. “We continue to be impressed by our staff as they show passion for volunteerism and support the community with a variety of fundraisers all year long.”
