The Berry Sweet Baking contest ran from Nov. 1 into December, according to Watsonville-based California Giant Berry Farms.
Entries included blueberry dessert coconut waffles and blueberry butter cake with vanilla ginger glaze. Recipes used Concord Foods muffin mix.
Winners will receive gift cards and fresh product from both companies, and their recipes will be shared on all social media outlets.
“We know consumers will want to try these recipes at home using our berries,” California Giant director of marketing Cindy Jewell said in a news release. Fresh blueberry season in South America is expected to stretch into spring, Jewell said.
California Giant expanded its South American blueberry program by 20% this year. The company plans to continue annual volume increases due to rising demand for fresh fruit.
