Disney Consumer Products has joined forces with Southern California Albertsons Stores and Traver, Calif.-based Scattaglia Growers & Shippers LLC for a seasonal stone fruit promotion.

“The Disney brand is a powerful standard of excellence for families, and it’s exciting for us and for retailers to make healthy eating fun for kids.” Dave Parker, director of marketing for SGS, said in a news release. “The response in-store is overwhelming and a positive driver of sales.”

The promotion at the Boise, Idaho-based retailer’s Southern California stores featured California peaches, plums and nectarines in Disney-themed packaging, along with in-store displays featuring Disney characters including Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck.

SGS provided 2-pound mesh bags of peaches, plums and nectarines featuring characters from Disney Pixar’s “Cars.” SGS also provided in-store signs, coupons for free fruit for children and children’s activity sheets.

The Disney-themed packages of peaches, plums and nectarines will be available throughout the season.

Designers are already working on a new Disney-SGS promotion for 2012, Parker said.
