Canneberges Quebec Inc., Saint-Louis de Blandford, will be opening a new facility capable of processing 10,000 pounds of cranberries per hour.
The 7,800-square-foot facility includes an optical sorter and parallel production lines for clamshells and bags, according to a news release.
The new facility will supply Canadian consumers with fresh fruit this fall.
In Quebec, the cranberries will be sold under the Canneberges Quebec banner and outside the province under the Golden Berries/Baies d’Or brand, according to the release.
“It’s a first,” said Patrick Bedard, Canneberges Quebec co-owner, in the release. “Now consumers can enjoy fresh organic and conventionally produced cranberries from our region, Centre-du-Québec, starting on day one of the harvest.”
