Refrigerated transportation specialist Carrier Transicold has introduced more energy-efficient trailer refrigeration technology.

At the 2012 Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ken., March 21, Carrier Transicold, a division of Farmington, Conn.-based Carrier Corp., rolled out a new system that consumes less fuel, operates more quietly and delivers improved cooling performance, according to a company news release.

The new system will help meet new U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and California Air Resources Board emissions standards, according to the release.

The system reduces engine power by up to 20% and offers up to 20% lower fuel consumption. It will be used on both of Carrier Transicold’s trailer refrigeration platforms: the Vector hybrid diesel-electric and the X2 series of belt-driven units.

With the new system, Vector hybrid units will be 8% lighter than before and X2 units will need 24% less refrigerant.

With the experience that I have had with my home heat pump and Carrier Corporations customer service I wouldn't recommend anything from this company.
