Chelan-based Chelan Fresh’s digital “toolkit” provides dietitians with regularly updated information on the company’s fresh apples, cherries and pears, according to a Chelan Fresh news release.
The idea for the toolkit came from a tour of Chelan Fresh by registered dietitians in July, and from the company’s sponsorship of a Produce for Better Health session for nutrition experts at the Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit show in New Orleans in October.
“RDs are gaining influence in buying decisions for both retail produce managers and for consumers,” Chelan Fresh marketing coordinator Kathryn Grandy said in the release. “Our RD toolkit, which is all-digital and print-friendly, is a very fun and Pinterest-like, with sections for each commodity.”
The toolkit, Grandy said, cites current studies and provides tips for each fruit, sharing ideas about how to use them, how to clean them and how to prepare them in recipes.
