Chiquita offers expanded app

ChiquitaChiquita Brands International has released an expanded consumer app, Chiquita FanFun.

It was developed in partnership with FunMobility. The first app resulting from that work was released in September 2012; the latest is available through iTunes and Google Play.

It can also be downloaded by texting “Chiquita” to 55155.

The app features arcade games, customizable photos, quizzes, a sweepstakes and hundreds of recipes. Users can gain loyalty points redeemable for Chiquita merchandise.

It was designed to be updated frequently with the company’s most current promotions. Through a store locator, users can find a nearby Chiquita banana retailer.

“We are expanding the mobile engagement of Chiquita consumers,” Rob Adams, Chiquita director of marketing and channel sales, said in a news release. “This is a creative breakthrough for our category and we’ll be looking forward to building greater momentum through this new app with consumers.”

Chiquita FanFun includes a Little League Card Maker, which lets users upload photos and convert them into baseball cards. The company sponsors Little League baseball and softball.

The quizzes test a user’s knowledge of bananas and the Chiquita brand.

User loyalty points can be applied to purchases of apparel, toys and accessories at the online Chiquita Store.
