Third-party logistics company Choptank Transports, Preston, Md., plans to hire returning soldiers as part of a veteran initiative created by the Transportation Intermediaries Association. All of the association’s 65 companies spread across 30 states are committed to attracting and hiring U.S. veterans.
Choptank president and chief executive officer Geoff Turner is the chairman of the association. He announced the organization’s goal is to hire 100 veterans by the end of 2014.
“With more than 13,000 TIA members in nearly every state, we have the ability to effect a positive change in people’s lives on a massive scale,” Turner said.
Choptank already hired its first veteran, Claude Whittaker, in early September. Whittaker served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
