The installation, which features 120 SunPower 305-watt photovoltaic panels, became operational in October.

The rooftop system is expected to reduce Coastline’s carbon dioxide emissions by 938 tons during the next 25 years. That’s equivalent to the carbon dioxide produced by one small car driving more than 3.1 million miles.

“Coastline is excited by this project because it is one of our most visible sustainability projects to date,” Steve Henderson, Coastline president, said in the release. “And I’m proud to say that our commitment to the environment goes back many years. These solar panels provide renewable energy, reduce greenhouse gases within the community and provide Coastline with energy cost savings.”

In addition to the solar installation, Coastline chose LEED-approved building materials for construction of its new office building near the Salinas airport.

LEED, or Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, is a program administered by the U.S. Green Building Council that ranks the energy efficiency of construction materials and building designs.

The Hyper X 290 Watt solar module offers a better PTC to STC ratio than these SunPower 305 Watt solar modules and they're priced much lower than SunPower.
