Will Daniels, vice president at Earthbound Farm, is scheduled as the keynote speaker for the 15th annual Food Safety Summit, set for April 30-May 2 in Baltimore.
In addition to serving as vice president for operations and organic integrity at the San Juan Batista, Calif., company, Daniels also heads Earthbound’s efforts in food safety. His keynote address, “The Future of Food Safety: When Industry, Academia and Regulators Work Together” is May 1.
Also on the agenda for the event this year is a May 2 town hall meeting with Michael Taylor, the Food and Drug Administration’s deputy commissioner for foods; Elisabeth Hagen, undersecretary for food safety at the U.S. Department of Agriculture; and Joseph Corby, executive director of the Association of Food and Drug Officials.
Preceding the Food Safety Summit, sessions are scheduled April 29 and the morning of May 1 for Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point training and ServSafe training and certification. The training and certification sessions require additional registration fees.
A variety of educational sessions are on the agenda, including traceability, social media and food safety, food liability programs, implementation of the Food Safety Modernization Act, controlling listeria in the produce supply chain and combating cross contamination.
Presenters include representatives from retailers, including the Kroger Co., H-E-B, Giant Eagle Inc. and Costco.
