Music and food were on offer in downtown Salinas, Calif., as Colorful Harvest hosted what it plans to make an annual event, the Family Fun Harvest Festival.
The Aug. 23 festival benefited community services backed by First Presbyterian Church of Salinas. Attendance at the admission-free event was about 1,000, according to a news release.
Live entertainment included Samz School of Rock and BC Blues, and featured The Chicano All Stars. Doug Ranno, managing partner at Colorful Harvest, played a Musical Harvest red corn guitar as he joined in for one set.
Restored classic cars flanked the stage; modern muscle cars were also on display.
A farmers market offered donated produce from grower-shippers such as Church Bros. LLC, Colorful Harvest, Taylor Farms, International Produce Group, NewStar Fresh Foods, D’Arrigo Brothers Co. of California, Mann Packing Co., Custom Produce, Dynamic Food Group, and Hibino Farms.
Pacific Ag Rentals and Drew Massa Trucking donated equipment and logistics services.
There was wine tasting, hot dogs and hamburgers and a children’s play and activity area.
