Colorful Harvest LLC has launched a red corn promotion, and its parent company, the Andrew Smith Co., has won awards for two of its lettuce packs.
Salinas, Calif.-based Andrew Smith and Jeffrey Sholl each bought a 50% stake in Salinas-based Colorful Harvest in 2013.
In Colorful Harvest’s “Find the Ruby Jewel” promotion, consumers who take a photo of red corn on store shelves have a chance to win a cash prize, according to a Colorful Harvest e-mail.
Photos will be uploaded on Instagram and posted to a map on the Colorful Harvest website that shows the location of the store where it was taken.
The contest runs through June 21.
Andrew Smith won two awards at the Salinas Valley Fair in King City, Calif. The company’s romaine pack won a first-place award, and its iceberg pack won Best of Show.
