Columbine Vineyards has opened a 204,200-square-foot cold storage facility in Delano, Calif., with 750,000-box capacity. The site is adjacent to Columbine’s ranch.

“Adding this facility into our organization will provide us with the capacity to receive and ship more than 200,000 boxes a day,” Martin Caratan, president of M. Caratan Inc., said in a news release.

The site’s design expands Columbine’s ability to maintain freshness and taste, he said.

The facility incorporates energy efficiency, sustainability and safety features, according to the company.

Columbine Vineyards had anticipated using it in the last week or so of June with Arvin production getting off to an early start this year.
