Foodservice management company Compass Group North America has become a partner in Greener Fields Together, Pro*Act’s sustainability and local produce initiative.
With its produce procurement partner Foodbuy, Charlotte, N.C.-based Compass Group gains increased access to such produce nationwide through the connection with Monterey, Calif.-based distributor Pro*Act.
“Becoming a hospitality partner in Greener Fields Together aligns with Compass Group North America’s existing … sustainability initiatives,” Marc Zammit, vice president of sustainability initiatives, said in a news release.
“Compass Groupb … encourages responsible and sustainable supply chain practices throughout their organization, which is exactly what Greener Fields Together works to deliver,” Max Yeater, Pro*Act president, said in the release.
Compass Group North America had $12.8 billion in revenues in 2013.
Greener Fields Together seeks measurable improvements in sustainability and food safety practices through the supply chain.
