LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. — The seventh Jim Connell Memorial Golf Tournament raised more than $62,000 and featured a record number of sponsors.
The annual event, hosted by Keith Connell Inc., benefits the Community of the Good Shepherd, a charity for adults with developmental disabilities.
Owner Keith Connell said the tournament has raised about $1.1 million in just over 20 years.
“The house just loves it,” he said of the charity. “It’s the biggest fundraiser they have this year.”
The event was June 7 at Shamrock Hills Golf Club in Lee’s Summit and featured about 125 golfers.
The tournament is named in honor of Keith Connell’s father, Jim, who died in 2006. Jim Connell worked for The Packer for 41 years, including as its publisher.
