LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. — Keith Connell Inc.’s annual golf tournament eclipsed $1 million in donations to a local charity.
In its 22nd year overall, and sixth annual as the Jim Connell Memorial Golf Tournament, the company gives proceeds to the the Community of the Good Shepherd, a charity for adults with developmental disabilities.
Owner Keith Connell said 140 golfers from the produce industry, Kansas City area businesses and friends raised about $56,000 this year for the charity.
"It’s a great tournament for these guys," Connell said.
The tournament is in honor of Keith Connell’s father, Jim, who died in 2006. Jim Connell worked for The Packer for 41 years, including as its publisher.
The tournament was June 15 at Shamrock Hills Golf Club in Lee’s Summit.
