On Aug. 22, a group of 20 handed out free samples of the fresh product below an electronic billboard in New York City’s Times Square.
The sign prominently displays pictures of apple slices in various positions.
The freebies included packages of the Cashmere, Wash., company’s FlavorZ, Foodles and DipperZ and 2-ounce mini bags.
The company spent four hours handing out the fruit, according to a news release.
Crunch Pak started its yearlong marketing campaign on the billboard at 1541 Broadway in Manhattan in May.
The ad is scheduled to appear more than 17,000 times on the 10-by-90-foot billboard, according to the release.
The text-based promotion includes a $1 coupon for the sliced apples.
The billboard tells viewers to text the word APPLES to 65047, sending them a link to the coupon which is good for any size package.
