Crunch Pak plans to display several new products — including NBA Fit Snackers, to be sold at Wal-Mart during basketball season — at the Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit in Anaheim, Calif.
NBA Fit Snackers contain sliced fresh apples, cheese and pretzels. The labels feature National Basketball Association players such as John Wall, Derrick Rose and Kevin Durant. Suggested retail price is $2.49.
Crunch Pak is working with the league to feature the product at events throughout the season and at featured players’ personal appearances, according to a news release.
The move extends Crunch Pak’s ties to professional sports. The company’s sliced apple snacks are sold at Yankee Stadium in New York. Packages with the Yankees logo are sold in some Northeastern markets.
PMA Fresh Summit is Oct. 17-19 at the Anaheim Convention Center. At booth 3084, Crunch Pak plans to introduce FlavorZ in a box featuring Disney characters. The snack item has been in test markets since August.
Two FlavorZ boxes — grape and strawberry vanilla crème — will be shown. The grab-and-go box has a handle and when emptied can be used to store children’s items such as crayons or toys.
Cashmere, Wash.-based Crunch Pak plans to unveil a variety-specific peel and reseal bag featuring Honeycrisp, gala and Piñata apples.
“We created the peel and reseal bag based on shopper feedback; consumers tell us they want to use one bag multiple times,” Tony Freytag, senior vice president of sales and marketing, said in the release.
The Crunch Pak booth will include a display area for its co-branded product line with Disney and licensing agreement partners Marvel Worldwide, the New York Yankees and Major League Baseball.
