(UPDATED COVERAGE, 9:50 a.m., June 28) Sliced apple specialist Crunch Pak will roll out a peach and mango flavored sliced apple.
The company plans to introduce the product at the Produce Marketing Association foodservice conference in Monterey, Calif., July 20-22, said Tony Freytag, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Cashmere, Wash.-based Crunch Pak.
To create the product, Crunch Pak dips sliced apples in a solution that infuses the apples with the smell and taste of peaches and mangoes.
Slices will be packed in a one-pound bag.
The item works well with salads and drinks, Freytag said.
Crunch Pak also has plans to introduce grape and strawberry creme flavored apple slices, Freytag said. Those products could begin shipping in late August.
All three new flavored apple products will be sold at retail, Freytag said.
