Curry & Co. inks deal for Peruvian sweet onions

Curry & Co., Brooks, Ore., has teamed with Suncrest Produce Solutions, Lake Wales, Fla., in an exclusive multi-year partnership that will augment Curry & Co.’s year-round sweet onion program.

Jason TurnerJason TurnerAs part of the arrangement, Suncrest will ship more than 200 containers of Peruvian sweet onions this fall and winter.

The deal is expected to triple or quadruple Curry & Co.’s Peruvian import volumes, according to a news release.

The firm is in the middle of harvesting Vidalia sweet onions, which will be available through August. It will begin shipping Walla Walla sweets in June.

Suncrest owner Jason Turner will assist with sales, marketing and production during the Vidalia season and help transition to Peruvian sweets this fall.

“Retailers are eager for consistently sweet onions, and we have the right onions year-round for their customer bases,” Turner said in the release.
