Denmark-based Damco recently earned the supply chain sustainability award from SCM Logistics at its annual world conference in Singapore. Damco has 27 regional offices in the U.S. providing third-party logistics and custom freight forwarding.
The sustainability award comes on the heels of Damco winning the supply chain best partnership award at last year’s world conference, according to a news release. The awards are based on peer input via a global voting system.
Conference organizer Eleanor Uy said in the release that Damco has not only implemented sustainable practices within its own organization, it has helped its business partners establish and expand sustainable initiatives to further reduce the carbon footprint of the entire supply chain.
Damco’s global head of green logistics, Sarah Flagg, said in the release that the company sees green logistics and sustainability as a core component of its supply chain management services. The company has 10,800 employees in 300 offices across 90 countries. It is part of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group.
