Mixon stopped working for Vero Beach, Fla.-based Seald Sweet “at least a week” before March 5, spokeswoman Kim Flores said March 5.
“He left to pursue other opportunities,” Flores said.
Flores would not comment on whether Mixon resigned or was laid off. She characterized his and Seald Sweet’s relationship as “amicable.”
Mayda Sotomayor-Kirk, Seald Sweet's chief executive officer, praised Mixon's contributions to the company.
“With David’s 30-plus years in the industry, his knowledge was very valuable to the company during his seven-year tenure," she said. "We wish David the best in his future endeavors.”
Mixon, who could not be reached for comment, joined Seald Sweet as senior vice president in 2004 after a 25-year career at Fort Pierce, Fla.-based DNE World Fruit Sales, the last 15 as vice president.
In 2007, he was given the additional title of chief marketing officer.
Mixon’s duties will be distributed among current Seald Sweet executives, Flores said. Sotomayor-Kirk will take a more active role in day-to-day activities.
