Chilean fruit grower-shipper David del Curto SA is buying a share in fellow Chilean shipper Southern Fruit.
The deal will create one of the leading Chilean exporters and extend David Del Curto’s reach in international markets, Vlamir Domic, David del Curto’s general manager, said in a news release.
In 2013, David del Curto and Southern jointly are expected to generate sales of $250 million or more, according to the release.
Domic cited Southern’s entrepreneurial skill and performance in recent years as reasons for David del Curto buying a stake in the company.
David del Curto, founded in 1953, has six plants in Chile and ships a full lineup of fruit to more than 80 countries.
Southern, founded in 2007, operates two plants and exports to more than 30 countries.
