Dawn Gray backs NZ apple, pear licensing in the U.S.

Dawn GrayGrayDawn Gray Global Consulting is taking a business development role with New Zealand-based Prevar Ltd.

Prevar seeks to license commercial rights for Piqa brand fruits in North America, an effort Gray will help lead.

“Prevar ... needs additional experienced resource to help develop and promote the opportunities for new apple and pear varieties to U.S. and Canadian pipfruit marketers and growers,” CEO Brett Ennis said in a news release.

Before starting the Vancouver consulting business in 2012, Gray was senior vice president of sales, marketing and categories for The Oppenheimer Group. Prior to joining Oppenheimer in 2008, she was general manager of Auckland, N.Z.-based Enza International.

Other roles included executive vice president of sales and marketing at BC Hot House Foods Inc.

She also has served as president of the Central California Orange Growers Cooperative, Visalia.

Her sales and marketing career includes roles at Seattle-based Vanguard International; The Autenrieth Co., Los Angeles; Frieda’s Inc., Los Alamitos, Calif.; and Sunkist Growers Inc., Sherman Oaks, Calif.
