Oxnard, Calif.-based Deardorff Family Farms has expanded its organic fall/winter production as well as its organic sales force, said president Tom Deardorff II.
The company will source an extensive selection of organic commodities, including celery, lettuces, kales, chards, collards, spinach and other commodities from Ventura County and the Imperial Valley in California and from growing areas in Mexico.
The added production will help the company meet increased customer demand for year-round, organic vegetable items, Deardorff said.
He estimated 40% of the company’s volume is organic, and that figure could reach 50% in the not-too-distant future.
Organic sales manager Luke Patruno now has Tyler Clear as help in organic sales after his recent hire.
Clear is a 2007 graduate of California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, and has worked with Albert’s Organics and most recently with Organically Grown Co., Portland, Ore.
