Defense Department awards produce contracts

Coast Citrus Distributors of San Diego and Quality Fruit and Vegetable LLC of El Paso, Texas, were recently awarded contracts by the Department of Defense to supply fresh fruits and vegetables to military and school customers.

According to a Department of Defense news release, Coast Citrus Distributors, San Diego, was awarded a maximum $15-million fixed-price with economic price adjustment contract for fresh fruits and vegetables. The firm will supply Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps facilities in California, with the contract ending in May 2015, according to the release. The base 18-month contract with the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support, will be followed with two 18-month option-year periods, according to the release.

Quality Fruit and Vegetable LLC, El Paso, Texas, was awarded a maximum $30-million fixed-price with economic-price-adjustment contract. The department received two offers for the contract, according to another release. The firm will supply Army facilities and U.S. Department of Agriculture school customers in Texas, with the ending in May 2015. The base contract with the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support will be followed with two 18-month option-year periods, according to the release.
