Del Monte Fresh Produce NA Inc.’s sponsorship of the 2014 Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival gave celebrities the chance to sample some tropical produce.
The Coral Gables, Fla.-based subsidiary of Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc., was the festival’s official fresh produce provider.
The Miami event is a national, star-studded, four-day “destination event” showcasing the talents of the world’s most renowned chefs, culinary personalities and wine and spirits producers, according to a news release.
At the Whole Foods Market Grand Tasting Village tents, Del Monte distributed samples of pineapple, proprietary MAG melons and Del Monte Fresh Guac.
At the Fun and Fit as a Family event featuring Goya Kidz Kitchen host Robert Irvine, Del Monte distributed bananas to children and families participating in activities at the Del Monte kiosk, according to the release.
Del Monte sponsored the Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum and Cabo Wabo Tequila Party and Sammy Hagar’s Rockin’ Beach Party and participated in other festival events including a burger bash hosted by chef Rachael Ray.
Many of the exhibiting celebrity chefs and famed restaurants featured Del Monte fresh products in their recipes, according to the release.
“Being a diamond sponsor of the (festival) was a great opportunity for Del Monte Fresh Produce to feature our branded products to chefs and customers and discerning consumers from across the country,” Dennis Christou, vice president of marketing, said in the release. “We are also proud to support local institutions such as Florida International University. Offering healthy and tasty culinary options is an exciting way to show what Del Monte Fresh has to offer.”
