The company said in a news release the store closures are expected by mid-February.
“These actions will continue to enhance the performance of our overall store portfolio and further enable us to deliver profitable growth and accelerate shareholder value,” the release said.
After the closures, 72 Sweetbay stores remain. The company operates a distribution center in Plant City, Fla.
Stores in Sarasota, Bradenton, Pinellas, Pasco, Ft. Myers, Naples, Tampa, Homosassa, Plant City, Lakeland, Springhill, Zephyrhills and Clermont are affected. A complete list of stores slated for closure is available on the SweetbaySupermarket.com website.
